A recent case: airport police report, the next morning

Real emergencies we handled in Da Nang. Names, numbers and card details are redacted for privacy.

1

The situation

On a domestic flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Da Nang, a traveller's credit cards were taken from a bag in the overhead locker. By the time they landed, about A$6,000 had been charged without authorization. Their bank asked for an official Vietnamese police report before it would look at the claim.

2

What we did

We met them at the airport police at 7:17 the next morning, turned their account into a clear written statement, interpreted with the officers and signed as the interpreter, which Vietnamese police require when the person reporting does not speak Vietnamese. One bilingual contact from the first message to the last.

✓

The result

The statement was filed that morning, and the traveller collected the stamped police report the following day to send to their bank. From the first message to a filed report: one night.

  • Statement filed with the airport police the morning after
  • Report ready for the bank's fraud claim on about A$6,000

October 2026: cash and cards taken on a Bangkok to Da Nang flight

Another traveller had cash and bank cards taken during a flight from Bangkok to Da Nang. They had already given their account to the Da Nang airport police, but the report could not be finished until an interpreter translated it and signed. They found us by asking ChatGPT for a translator in Da Nang. We started at 7:28 the next morning, sent the translated papers at 9:47 and delivered the hard copy to their hotel at 1:11 pm the same day.

"Excellent service Very punctual, professional, and always willing to help. Everything went smoothly, and I really appreciated the support throughout the process. Highly recommended!"The traveller's review, October 9, 2026 · Trustpilot

Routine paperwork, without the runaround

Most guides leave you guessing. Here's what actually matters for each one, in plain English, tap to open. Then we prepare it, translate it, and walk it through the right office.

TRCVisa & residence cardStay long-term without visa runs

A Temporary Residence Card (TRC) is a residence permit, not a visa. It's tied to your work, investment or family status and lets you stay for years without repeated visa extensions.

  • A work-based TRC needs a valid work permit; your passport should be valid ~13+ months.
  • Terms vary by category: labour cards run up to 2 years, family up to 3, investors longer.
  • Getting the category right the first time saves the most time and money.

We handle: work-permit paperwork, the TRC application, extensions, renewals and exit/re-entry, and tell you which category actually fits before you pay.

DOCNotarized translationThe kind offices actually accept

A plain translation isn't enough for Vietnamese authorities. Documents must be translated and then notarized, with pages stapled and stamped across the seal.

  • Needed for licence conversion, marriage/birth certificates, diplomas, contracts, police reports, and anything foreign-language going to an office, bank or court.
  • Do it right once and it won't bounce at the counter.

We handle: translation and notarization in-house, from 10+ languages into Vietnamese, produced to be accepted by Vietnamese offices. More on our certified and notarized translation.

HOMERental & residence registrationThe step most people miss

By law your host or landlord must declare your temporary residence to the local police, typically within 12 hours of you arriving (24h in remote areas). In Da Nang, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City it can be filed online.

  • Skipping it can mean a fine, and it can block your TRC, bank account and driving licence later.
  • Many landlords forget or don't know how, so it quietly becomes your problem.

We handle: lease contracts, the residence declaration, utilities and internet in your name, and we make sure your landlord actually files it.

DRVDriving licenceConvert yours, no road test

You can convert a foreign licence to a Vietnamese one with no written or road test. You need a notarized Vietnamese translation of your licence (stapled and stamped) and usually a quick health check.

  • The health check is often waived if you apply while your visa or TRC is still valid.
  • An International Driving Permit (1968 Vienna Convention) is also recognised in Vietnam.

We handle: the notarized translation, the forms, booking the health check, and submitting to the provincial traffic police licence office.

BANKBank, tax code & SIMDay-one essentials

The basics you need to actually function here, and they often depend on each other.

  • A bank account usually needs your passport plus a valid visa or TRC, and often proof of address (your residence registration).
  • A personal tax code and a properly registered SIM are quick once you're set up.

We handle: account opening, tax code and a registered SIM, so salary, payments and apps just work.

BIZBusiness & one-off errandsIf it's paperwork, ask

Company setup, contracts, notarizations, and the odd task you can't do from abroad or in Vietnamese.

  • Company registration and the tax/accounting basics to run it legally.
  • Contract drafting and translation, notarizations, and standalone errands.

We handle: the setup, the paperwork and the follow-through, one contact from start to finish.

Vietnamese requirements change often and vary by province, so treat the above as a plain-English guide, not legal advice. We confirm the current rule for your exact case before anything starts.

Questions, answered

Is VietnamHelp a marketplace of freelancers?
No. VietnamHelp is a concierge service, our own bilingual team handles your paperwork end-to-end. You deal with one point of contact, not a marketplace of strangers.
Can you help in an emergency, like a lost passport or theft?
Yes. We help you file the police report, translate it into English (or your language), and coordinate with the police and your embassy. Call or message us anytime, we guide you through what to do immediately and meet you in person as soon as we can. This is one of the core reasons VietnamHelp exists.
Is it safe to hand over my documents?
You're dealing with a registered business (Vietnamese household business, tax code 8533092175-001) with a public track record, not an anonymous individual. You can check the tax code on the official register of Vietnam's tax authority (opens in a new tab). We tell you exactly which documents are needed and why, keep your data confidential, and never ask you to hand cash to third parties. One named contact is responsible for your case throughout.
How much does it cost?
Every case is quoted up front. Tell us your situation and send any documents, we look at exactly what's involved and reply with one clear price, including any official fees, usually within a day. Nothing begins until you approve the quote, and there are no surprise charges at the counter.
Where do you operate?
All of Central Vietnam, from Hue and Quang Tri down through the Central Highlands and the south-central coast to Khanh Hoa and Lam Dong. We operate across the region and know the specific offices and people locally rather than spreading thin. Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City are next, join the waitlist and we'll tell you when we reach you.
What languages do you support?
English and Vietnamese as standard. Documents in Chinese, French, Russian, Korean, Japanese, German, Spanish, Thai, Indonesian and more are translated into Vietnamese and notarized through FAS. Notarized and certified translations are produced in-house.
